About The Bengal Indian Restaurant

The Bengal Indian Restaurant has been in existence since 1981. Originally situated in High Street, Fremantle, it is now housed in the beautiful Old Firestation, one of Fremantle's finest heritage buildings.

The upper section of the building is home to International Backpackers, many of whom gain work experience in the restaurant, adding to the multi-cultural flavour of the restaurant.

We are proud to have Parshad Shambu (Ravi) as our head chef. Ravi joined the restaurant in 2001 and has brought the Bengal to a higher level in terms of quality and consistency of food and service.

Fremantle's Old Firestation Building

Built in 1909 for Fire Brigades Board of WA replacing earlier station of 1887 in Croke Street. Architects were Cavanagh, Cavanagh and Parry. There was a recent threat of demolition when planning new Fire Station. Significant public protest resulted in the building remaining.
